Homework for the week of September 18, 2017
This is a short week of school. Thursday is minimum day and dismissal is at 12:45. This is also Free Dress Day. There is no school on Friday, due to teacher professional development. Since this is a short week, I am only giving the students six spelling words that are common pronouns: it, you, we, they, she, and he. All students have the same words.
There are several strategies that will help them learn their spelling words. Please have them study each evening. Their spelling tests are always on Friday unless noted in this weekly letter. They are tested on 10 spelling words.
“Fry” words are on their spelling list handed out on Mondays. Fry words are sight words that third graders need to know. They must know how to read, use, and spell these. Every other month I test them on twenty of these words. They are not tested weekly. I will provide five each week for them to learn.
Students should study math for at least 10 minutes each day. There is nothing to turn in for this. They should study facts for the numbers 1 and 2. For example, 2X1=2 all the way to 2X10=20 and the related division facts. Third graders need to know the math facts for the school wide goal this year!
Your child has a planner now. They bring it home daily to be signed by you. This goes back and forth for communication between home and school. The only day they don’t have to take it home is on Friday.
Monday- Pronoun paper, study spelling words, math facts, read 20 minutes
Tuesday- Math handout, study spelling words, math facts, read 20 minutes
Wednesday- Math handout, study spelling words, math facts, read 20 minutes
Thursday-Turn in homework, dismissal 12:45
Friday- No School, reading log is due in on Monday (for weekend entries) and read 20 minutes
Hoping for a Great Week!
